Yoghurt Balls

These are great fun for kids and gets them involved in the kitchen. Make a variety of balls
ahead of time and freeze for entertaining, or keep on hand as an anytime treat.
Defrost for about an hour before serving.


Master Cheese Mix:

In a small glass or ceramic bowl, combine cheeses with a mixer until well blended. Keep refrigerated while working. Only take out what is needed for each recipe that follows.

Cocoa Walnut Balls:

  • ¼ cup Master Cheese Mix
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • 4 tablespoons powdered sugar, divided
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

In a small glass or ceramic bowl, combine master cheese mix, walnuts, and 1 tablespoon of the powdered sugar. Mix well.

In a small bowl, combine cocoa powder and the remaining powdered sugar.

Roll one teaspoon of cheese mixture into a ball. The mixture will be a little wet. Roll the ball in the cocoa mixture. Repeat with remaining mixture. Refrigerate immediately. Serve chilled.

Makes 8 balls.


Pecan Balls:

  • ¼ cup Master Cheese Mix
  • 2 tablespoons finely crumbled Roquefort cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup ground pecans

In a small glass or ceramic bowl, combine Master Cheese Mix, Roquefort, pecans, and powdered sugar. Mix well.

Roll one teaspoon of cheese mixture into a ball. The mixture will be a little wet. Roll the ball in the ground pecans. Repeat with remaining mixture. Refrigerate immediately. Serve chilled.

Makes 8 balls.


Coconut Balls:

  • ¼ cup Master Cheese Mix
  • ½ cup shredded unsweetened coconut
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • ½ cup shredded unsweetened coconut, toasted

In a small glass or ceramic bowl, combine Master Cheese Mix, the untoasted coconut, sugar, and lemon zest. Mix well.

Roll one teaspoon of cheese mixture into a ball. The mixture will be a little wet. Roll the ball in the toasted coconut. Repeat with remaining mixture. Refrigerate immediately. Serve chilled.

Makes 8 balls.

Pistachio Balls:

  • ¼ cup Master Cheese Mix
  • 1/3 cup chopped pistachio nuts
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pistachio nuts

In a small glass or ceramic bowl, combine Master Cheese Mix, the 1/3 cup chopped pistachios, and sugar. Mix well.

Roll one teaspoon of cheese mixture into a ball. The mixture will be a little wet. Roll the ball in the ¼ cup finely chopped pistachios. Repeat with remaining mixture. Refrigerate immediately. Serve chilled.

Makes 8 balls.

*To make Yoghurt Cheese, place Plain Original Style Mountain High Yoghurt in a cheesecloth-lined strainer. Set strainer in a bowl, cover bowl with plastic wrap. Drain for at least 24 hours. Two cups of yoghurt will make about 8 oz. of Yoghurt Cheese. To learn more, click here.
